Why shouldn’t poets be the free-est of all artists? Freed from any economy, freer than any to do whatever they wish? No capital, no infrastructure, no collaboration required? What is holding us back? There’s no money in this anyway. And no one else cares, anyway.

A longtime Brandeis University professor says he has been the victim of "vindictive persecution" by school administrators after he was found in violation of the university's nondiscrimination policy for describing a racist word in one of his classes (ironically, Brandeis is named after former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, a passionate defender of free speech rights).
